Pippins is a small water of 1.5 acres, dug in 1997. Depths range from 3ft to well over 12ft towards the dam end. The society was responsible for the initial fish stock of Tench, Rudd, Roach and Crucian Carp. With plenty of natural food, these species have successfully spawned every year and are now being caught to good sizes. The abundance of small Roach and Rudd will make short work of maggot and most other small baits. Bigger baits such as sweetcorn do pick out the better sized fish. One of our members caught a cracking Roach of 1lb 11oz.
Whip tactics with maggot will ensure you have a fun day and you are quite likely to have the place to yourself. The society has recently stocked some more Tench, Crucians and Perch which were supplied by the Environment Agency.
