NEW ADDITIONS TO BARDEN LAKE

The Society recently stocked Barden Lake with some much needed quality sized Tench.
As our original stock had depleted through age and losing several double figure fish, we were able to source these lovely conditioned fish which weighed between 2lb and 6lb.
This should help secure the quality Tench fishing for a few more years.

  1. Do you have a map of the lake which includes the depths as it varies throughout.
Also where is the best area for pike and tactics please.
The ballst pit, is it moreless same depth throughout the lake, my target there is for bream.
I’m asking this as the river has been impossible to fish for weeks and need to get out and fish somewhere. I am a member of the society waters
    Thank you

    1. Hi David,
Thanks for your enquiry. The Ballast Pit is a pretty standard depth of around 6-8ft from the field side to two thirds of the way across as it gets deeper as it nears the railway embankment. The level drops through the summer months due to the water table and evaporation. The railway side is currently closed as there is ongoing work being done until further notice. The Bream fishing can be exceptional, especially as it warms up, with bags to 200lb being recorded and individual fish to double figures. Tench have also been recorded to over 9lb. Hope this helps.
      Kind regards,
      Austin.

  2. I am partly disabled, can I still night fish,I cannot do day sessions as I live to far away

    1. Hi Andrew,
If you have the correct ticket to night fish, then there is nothing stopping you and dependant on what water you want to fish, the access maybe an issue.
      kind regards
