Medway - The Sportsground
Brief description of fishery:
A narrower section of the River is found here, as the Medway splits in two directions to encircle the Sportsground. The depth is around 4ft, the flow is generally sluggish, especially in the Summer. All river species are present with good Chub and specimen Roach. Bream bags of 50lb have been recorded from Tinkers Island and behind the bowling green. Occasional Carp, Barbel and very large Tench patrol these areas. Hemp and caster accounts for good catches of Roach in the Summer months. This venue responds best to the little and often method of groundbait. If you ball it in, be prepared to wait for your first bite. Boats can be a problem for long pole users on sunny Summer weekends.
