Originally dug for the gravel, this lovely tree lined attractive lake is one of our quietest waters. The most common species are Bream and Tench with Carp, Perch, Roach, Rudd and Pike also present. The Society has stocked 35 Carp to 24lb in January 2025.
Large catches of Roach were once possible but the attention of Cormorants in recent years has made this water predominantly a large fish water. 50lb nets of Bream are not unusual with some individual fish going above 7lb. Tench well over 6lb are caught regularly and the Society have stocked another 37 fish in February 2021 which ranged from 4lb to 8lb. Big groundbait feeders with corn, worm, maggot or pellet on the hook will all tempt the Bream and Tench. This is one of the few Society waters that will often respond well to balling in groundbait. You can at times, have this delightful lake to yourself, as few are willing to walk past Haysden Lake.
